Panteleimonos Beach is a coastal settlement of the municipality of Dion – Olympus (altitude 5 meters) of the Region of Central Macedonia and one of the 16 coasts of the prefecture.
It is 36 km from Katerini, 56 km from Larissa and is located in the southeast of the prefecture. It is a summer residence of the inhabitants of Neos Panteleimon and a recreation resort, which is flooded with tourists in the period May – September, while in winter it is almost deserted.
It is located just below the castle of Platamonas, in a small cove, which is why it is sometimes called Castle. The length of the coast is 3 km.
Every year it is awarded the Blue Flag by the European Union, due to the purity of the water and its sandy shore. It combines mountain and sea and is one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. Next to the sea there are plane trees and poplars. A river flows into the sea thus ending its long journey from the springs of Olympus.
Panteleimonos Beach is the central theme of the advertising campaign of the Prefecture of Pieria. The facilities of the area are structured to serve tourists regardless of financial situation.
More than 10 campsites are filled every summer by young people and tourists from foreign countries, mainly from the Eastern Countries, while there are many rooms for rent as well as 3 or 4 star hotels.
Panteleimonos Beach is also suitable for water sports, while there are also facilities for basketball, tennis, table tennis and beach volleyball. In the summer, under the auspices of the municipality, a basketball and volleyball tournament is organized.
At the same time, every summer at Platamonas Castle, above the beach, the Olympus Festival is organized with theatrical performances and concerts by Greek artists. The Festival is organized by the Ministry of Culture.
